The Rhetorical Esthetics of Raji Kermani’s Hamleh-ye Heidari

Abstract

Hamleh-ye Heidari is a religiousepic composed by Mulla beman Ali Raji Kermani (1180 – 1291 A.H), the well-known poet of thirteenth century. The metric pattern of it is the same as Firdowsi’s shahnameh (Musamman Mutaqareb metre omitted). This epicwork comprises two volumes containing 16954 verses (First volume: 6555; the second one: 10399 verses. It has been published through the effort of two scholars Yahya Talebian and Mahmoud Modibberi as a critical edition. Its contents begin with the description of creating the creaturos and the story of Imam Ali’s birth and end with the capture of Mekka and the report of Islamic army informing the prophet about the Roman arm coming to Mekka. This essay is formed based on creating images and rhetorical devices and deals with semantic and verbal figures of speech as well as vhetorical devices used in Raji Kermani’s Hamleh Heidari describing and analyzing them. The main question of this research is now well Raji Kermani has succeeded in using rhetorical image. The studies show that Raji Kermani has used various rhetorical devices in order to increase the musical values of his poetry and has succeded in using the beauty caused by them for propagating his religious thoughts and the epic aims of his work.This research is basedon the close study of every verse of that book using statistic and analysis related to the rhetorical aspects of Hamleh Heidari’s Text.
